One week away from the Ohio General Election

The general election in Ohio is coming up in one week. Have you reviewed the issues and candidates?

On November 8, 2011, Ohioans will be exercising their constitutional right to vote in this year’s general election addressing the main issues:

– Issue 1: Proposed amendment to the US Constitution increasing the maximum age at which a person may be elected or appointed as judge and eliminate the authority of the Governor to appoint a Supreme Court Commission.

– Issue 2: Referendum on the new law relative to government union contracts and other government employment contracts and policies.

– Issue 3: Proposed amendment to the Ohio Constitution to preserve the freedom of Ohioans to choose their health care coverage.

In addition to many state and local issues, voters get a chance to show their support for elected officials such as Municipal Court Judges, City Council Members, County Auditors and even the Columbus Mayor. Be sure to educate yourself and vote for the certified candidate that you believe will best represent Ohio.

Luftman, Heck & Associates Named to Inc. Magazine’s 500/5000

Inc. magazine announced its annual list of the nation’s 5,000 fastest-growing private companies to which LHA made a debut.

Of the 5,000 companies listed on the annual report, nearly 50 firms came from Central Ohio (via Columbus Business First). Inc., also named Columbus as one of the top 10 cities that have created jobs in the U.S.

The 500/5000 list is comprised of small business owners, entrepreneurs and private companies with the highest percentage growth from 2007-2010. Luftman, Heck & Associates reported revenue growth of 93% during that period.

Richard Cordray expected to lead Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

President Obama will announce today that Richard Cordray will be his choice over Elizabeth Warren to lead the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

Obama said in a statement “Richard Cordray has spent his career advocating for middle class families… and looking out for ordinary people in our financial system.” As Ohio’s Attorney General, Cordray made a strong impression as he fought mortgage lenders and servicing companies to protect the homeowners. Elizabeth Warren hand-picked Cordray to serve as the CFPB’s director of enforcement as he has always been a strong supporter of Warren while she stood up to Wall Street and created the Bureau.

The mission of this new government agency is to help American families make smart financial decisions and ultimately help eliminate the economic hardships that many people are facing every day.
